Ones we and our friends went to Sri Lanka for a month. There were 6 of us (3 couples). We had a wonderful idea – to spend a few days on a deserted beach on the east coast in a camping tent. Everything we need was collected and here was the question of choosing and buying a tent. We didn’t take it from USA, because we hadn’t planned such an adventure in advance. At first there was an idea to rent a tent, but then we came to the conclusion that we still should buy it.

Firstly, we didn’t have a 6-person tent at home, and we wanted to be able to spend time together inside the tent, especially in case of bad weather. Secondly, renting a camping tent, although it would have been cheaper, but it would have been just wasted money, and so the tent stayed with us and pleases us further on joint trips.

Sri Lanka Sri Lanka

We were not going to make long hiking trips. So we did not have weight requirements, but we had plenty of other needs. At first, it should have room enough for 6 people. It should have a mosquito net. It shouldn’t be much expansive and the main criterion- it should be fully waterproof. We were in Sri Lanka at the end of the rain season and it was raining almost every day in the evening.

Considering that rain in the tropics is usually heavy, we decided not to save on water resistance and chose a high-quality durable tent with rainfly and vestibule for things and high water resistance and windproof. It was a bit more expensive than a single-layer tent, but later we realized that it was the right decision. One day the sky was overcast in the morning and it rained heavily all day. We had to spend the whole day in a tent. But the tent was large and extremely rainproof so we were not bored and kept our stuff dry. We have chosen the best waterproof tents.

Most tent descriptions will say the product is water resistant. It is not a guarantee that things will not get wet inside. However, certain features can help prevent moisture from getting into your tent. In general, they will make it waterproof, so you don’t have to worry about something getting spoiled or sleeping badly at night.

The shape of your tent can play an important role in maintaining dryness inside. The two most common types are A-frame and dome. Each has its pros and cons. An A-frame tent will have vertical walls for maximum free space. Flatter roofs, however, also mean that water can unite at the top. If you prefer extra height, look for a model with an A-frame with a sloping roof.

Dome tents do not have that problem with the water at the top, as it will slide from the sides. They offer a distinct advantage over the A-versions because of their excellent wind stability. The wind will keep an eye on the dome so as not to damage the tent walls. With an A-frame, it’s like a brick wall that stops the wind. And since strong winds often accompany rain, this is an important point.

The design of the tent can also affect the waterproofness. The best rain tents will include many of these features with modifications to improve water resistance. Remember that it is the combination of factors that determines the difference between a wet or dry tent. It is important to consider both the detail itself and possible disadvantages.

We chose tent capacity for six people in case the weather keeps us inside. We looked at the additional perk as well as the waterproof. The screened front porch and sloping roof were decisive for us. A well-designed rain butterfly protected us from rain, providing excellent ventilation. It also had a mesh ceiling for watching the stars on clear nights.

In order to give our readers a choice of size, we have included a smaller tent for those who need the same features but are smaller in size. The Campla double camping tent fully meets the requirements of Coleman Evanston’s shielded tent for a large group. The tent is mainly made of mesh panels and includes full rainbow coverage.

Excellent cross ventilation with two windows and two doors
Waterproof, wear-resistant raincoat with buckles for added protection against breakage
The bath floor extends to the bottom of the doors.
Removable USB powered LED strip

The best advice we can give you is to be prepared to let water seep into your tent as a precaution. Keep your clothes and outerwear away from the floor in case the window stays open or the wind makes it rain into your tent. You may also consider putting a trail or tarp on the ground before setting up your tent for extra protection. Just make sure it is smaller than the bottom size to prevent seepage.

Whenever you purchase a tent, we always recommend that you set up your tent at home first. Make sure you can also quickly put the rainbow into place. You may even want to run a test run on a rainy night to make sure there are no leaks. Finally, use the mobility of a free-standing tent to move it according to the direction of the wind.
